  • Take the bus 254 towards Piazza Poli from the Garibaldi - Umberto I stop at Naples.
  • Alight at the San Ciro stop and walk for about 1.3 km till you reach the Herculaneum ruins.
  • Alternatively, you can take the 195 towards Circumvesuviana-Argine-Stazionamento from Garibaldi in Naples. At the intermediate stop S. Giovanni a Teduccio-Tartarone, take the 254 towards Piazza Poli.
  • Alight at the San Ciro stop and walk for about 1.3 km till you reach the Herculaneum ruins.

  • Get on the A3 from Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi and Via Galileo Ferraris.
  • Follow the A3 to Piazza Privata Luigi Sapio/Via Uliviin Portici. Take the exit toward Portici/Ercolano from A3.
  • Take Via Panoramica and Via IV Novembre to SS 18 Tirrena Inferiore/SR18 in Ercolano.

Pompeii to Herculaneum

  • From the Pompeii Santuario station, take the L44088 towards Napoli Porta Nolana.
  • Disembark at the Ercolano Scavi station, from where the archeological park is 6-8 minutes away by walk.

  • Get on the A3/E45 fromSS 18 Tirrena Inferiore/SR18.
  • Follow the A3/E45 toVia Cupa Monti in Ercolano. Take the exit to Ercolano Scavi from A3/E45.
  • Continue on Via Cupa Monti. Take Via A. Bordiga and Via A. Moro to SS 18 Tirrena Inferiore/SR18.

Sorrento to Herculaneum

  • Follow SS145 andA3/E45 to Via Cupa Monti in Ercolano. Take exit Ercolano Scavi from A3/E45.
  • Continue on Via Cupa Monti. Take Via A. Bordiga and Via A. Moro to SS 18 Tirrena Inferiore/SR18.
  • Turn right on to SS 18 Tirrena Inferiore/SR18 (signs for Napoli/Portici). The park will be on your left.

Parking facilities at Herculaneum

  • You can leave your car at an underground parking facility near the entrance of the site. The approximate cost of parking is 2-5 euros per hour.   
  • There are also free (but unsecured) parking spots near the ruins.

What is the best way to get to Herculaneum?
