With an audio tour, you can explore at your own pace. You're not tied to a group, and you can pause or replay information as needed. This flexibility allows you to focus on the areas and details that interest you the most.
Headout is an authorized and trusted partner of the venue, offering curated experiences to enjoy this attraction. This is not the venue's website.
Tiny but mighty, Herculaneum stands partially unearthed from the ashes of Vesuvius. As a striking, well-preserved remnant of ancient Roman civilization, it is a must visit while in Naples. Take an audio guided tour of the ruins to get the best of both worlds: leisurely self discovery coupled with on-the-go commentary.
Herculaneum tours cost vary based on the type of experience you choose. The price for Herculaneum Audio Guide Tours starts from €28.90. If you're booking a combo tour with Pompeii, prices can go up to €99.75.
That depends on your preferences. If you book audio guide tickets, you will automatically be given a hand-held physical device at the start of your experience. With physical devices, you don't have to worry about connectivity issues, etc. If you prefer a digital audio guide, know that you have to download the app on your phone at an additional fee.
Again, this depends on your interests and preferences. If you prefer to go solo and like to explore the attraction at your own terms, then an audio guided tour is ideal. If you prefer a more interactive atmosphere with the opportunity to tour the ruins with a knowledgeable archeologist, then a guided tour is best for you.
The duration of your Herculaneum audio guided tour is flexible. You can stay as long as you like during park opening hours and explore the attraction at a pace suitable to you.

The booking went really well, there was no overpriced surcharge. It would have been nice if I had also received a map when I showed my ticket. I didn't see it anywhere myself, but another visitor had one. The excavation site is similar to Pompeii - only smaller and generally less grandiose. The construction and layout of the houses is similar. Easy to traverse in 3 hours. Even on your own, if you want to get a taste of the atmosphere and understand the display boards with explanations in English. If you want more information, you should book a guide.
We love to see Di Ercolano. Was beautiful. more than beautiful. Great job all the work there. And tickets at headout is also great. we enjoy the fast entrance.
Easy to book, safe on the App and able to be saved as a screenshot. Open ticket for the whole day chosen so no pressure to get to venue at a specific time. Did get directed by staff direct to the entrance. Not sure there was much of a Queue but convenient. Amazing experience actually visiting Herculaneum. Not to be missed when visiting area. Direct local stopping train from Garibaldi rail station in Naples. Very cheap return ticket and regular service. From station straight down the road to entrance bit of a hill on the way back up. Definitely recommend at least 3/4 hrs to visit.
Exceptional site 🤩🤩🤩 We spent 5 hours there and didn't see the time go by
No big crowds, such an amazing site
Speed simple to understand and use
Roman ruins in a magnificent state of preservation. A must visit.
Very interesting visit We visited the site at the end of July and there were only a few of us there, which was very pleasant.
So much to explore. I felt like I got to walk back in time, into history. Make sure to give yourself enough time. I could have easily spent 8+ hours reading and exploring everything.
Audioguide was good. As the ruins are in a pit and no breeze can be felt in there, it felt like being in a frying pan ( I was there in July). Therefore it was good to have a small area with trees and loungers to sit and rest in the shadow. There was also a water tap, but the water probably wasn't potable, so bring your own water. The area to explore is much smaller than Pompeii, so it could fit better to those who are not interested to spend a long time exploring the ruins - in comparison, Pompeii is really huge. Some very well preserved mosaics and wall paintings. Less people than in Pompeii.
So, on a positive note - the ruins were really impressive and interesting, in some cases, with imagination, you could imagine yourself back in ancient Roman life. The audio guide was sometimes a bit confusing because you often couldn't find rooms or phalluses or frescoes because of the descriptions (this was the case for me and my wife), and some areas were blocked off. And I think that with the frequency of visitors you could also afford a proper café or a snack bar where you could get a glass of wine and a panini. Toast or something - like in the archaeological museum, for example.
Ticketing experience worked well although signage at the entrance wasn't particularly clear. €10 guide was confusing and didn't cover some important buildings. A paper map, with highlights, would have been useful. Museum was good. Refreshment facilities poor.
Herculaneum was absolutely amazing! Our tickets said that an App based audio tour was included and that we should download it before arrival, but there was no link to it in the information provided. I found an App for Herculaneum for 1.99€ but didn't know if it was genuine. When we arrived at Herculaneum the guy at the ticket office said he didn't know anything about an App but we could pay 10€ for an Audio tour. This needs to be clearer on the tickets. Several other reviews on Headout mention the same issue.
Very well preserved buildings and streets. The audio guide takes you back to Roman times. The skeletons at the bottom of the excavation are impressive.
The ticket provided access but when I booked it the information page indicated there was a audio guide to download but that was not an option with my ticket but that was not clear on the booking site.
Beautiful experience kind and professional staff the tickets perfect bravo compliments excavations Herculaneum fantastic
Great place to visit with very good explanation of all the places. A lot of history is to see. And they are still working to renovate and maintain. The catering was very poor. No restaurant. That coud be better.
It is impressive to have been able to visit Ercolano, although it is small, it is better preserved than Pompeii and being able to enjoy a small courtyard at the end of the visit was very comforting!
Amazing site, however there are no normal trains stopping at the the station from the Sorrento line trains. We thus had to change trains. There was also no signs to the sire from the statio. Lastly there were only machine purchase food and drinks at the site.
Francesco was an awesome guide. He was enthusiastic about showing us what makes the site special and he was able to answer all of our questions. It was the best tour experience that we have ever had. Highly recommend!
Nothing to complain about, we already had our tickets in PDF format on the laptop and we were straight home in a matter of minutes. It was great.
Brilliant day. Travelled via train from Sorrento. Staff at the site were very helpful and polite. Awesome location stayed all day wandering around. Highlight of our visit sp far. A definite must do lication
It was easy to book and we didn't have to queue. Top! But why we had to enter the names for each of us (6 people) was not clear to me. The names were then no longer on the tickets either
The ruins themselves are very good. The audio guide is terrible, it does not match the description of what you hear with what you see, clearly the audio and the numbers of the references to see are poorly correlated. It also uses many specific architectural words that we who are not specialists do not understand.
Really enjoyed it all - much quieter than pompeii and more easy to see in our opinion. Great views from the ticket office area. Very easy ticketing experience online. Helpful staff at the venue. No queues on the day when we went so cannot comment on the skip the queue experience. Not absolutely clear direction where to get the paper tickets from or if this would have been possible with queues. Snack site was good views and comfortable seating though maybe a cafe would be nice? Audio was a bit confusing at times as not sure which entrance we were using sometimes. Shame that we couldn't see some rooms as they were roped off (due to off-season - lack of staff to man the buildings?) - but still a very good experience.

Jozefina was top, good explanation during bus ride, pleasant person, full of passion. Herkulanium was very beautiful, beautifully preserved. Our guide was great, English explanation, calm, well explained, all questions were answered. Highly recommended!!!!!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and very informative. It was a good experience.
we took a daytrip from rome to nsples, we had purchased hurculaneum tour with roundtrip transportation from naples to the site and back to naples. Because we were instructed to be at our pickup location 20 min early than our pick up time we ended up waiting for over 1.5 hrs to find out our transportation was in traffic and would be even later. we cancelled our trip because we wouldnt have been back in enough time to catch our train back to rome.
The tour leader and driver are true professionals: we are satisfied +++. Punctuality, friendliness, commentary: perfect.
Herculaneum may not be as popular as Pompeii and is thus a tad less crowded. But the sights are more magnificent, in my opinion. So glad I could see it for myself
I was unaware of Pompeii's sister-town of Herculaneum and was thus, not as keen on this tour as my friend was. I take it back. The experience was so surreal.
Was hoping the tickets would have come with the package, but otherwise, it was an excellent day. An experience of a lifetime
Having just arrived at Naples, it was a blessing to have the tour bus come to pick us up. Hasslefree, comfortable ride taking us to see one of the acient marvels of time, all in less than a day.
If you do not have all day but still want a taste of history, I suggest you go for this. Worth every penny I paid for this.
My year old was never more attentive than during the tour. You are literally walking amongst the past, with the surroundings still perfectly preserved! Just lovely!
Loved every minute of the experience! Good job guys

The tour was straightforward and didn't waste your time by running you through a presentation before or after trying to get you to purchase something. Fabio was very knowledgeable, patient and kind. It rained the day we went but I'd like to say it was more enjoyable that way as it didn't seem very crowded for a Friday. The train was perfect to get to and from as long as you don't mind the 10 minute walks.
Es war eine sehr kompetente informative Führung, die Gruppe war überschaubar, wir haben viel verstanden und viel gesehen.
